  • Immacolata's Advent by Candlelight is held each year during Advent. It is best described as a "spiritual tea party" for women. The guest speaker provides a 20-25 minute reflection on the Advent season. Following the reflection, the hostesses serve dessert to the women seated at their tables. It is a socially enjoyable and spiritually enriching evening. Most importantly, it affords an opportunity for the women of our parish to come together to renew old friendships and make new ones

  • No, Advent by Candlelight is free of charge, but reservations are required since the hostesses will have a spot specifically set for you at their table.

  • The hostesses set and decorate their tables with their own china, flatware, linens, stemware, candles and decorations. They set a place for each woman assigned to their table and provide desserts for their tables. The hostesses receive a detailed check list of how to set their tables long before the event.

  • Ideally, there should be two hostesses per table. Yes, the hostesses sit at their own tables.

  • The hostesses are welcome to invite their friends and relatives to sit at their tables. It is not necessary for the hostesses to fill their tables. In fact, it is preferable to have a few new women assigned to the table to broaden acquaintances within the parish.

  • You are most welcome to invite your female friends and relatives to Advent by Candlelight. Be sure to indicate with whom you'd like to be seated when making reservations.

  • We welcome everyone. If you have a group of 5 or more, we ask that you seriously consider hosting your own table as the hostesses sit at their tables and may have a few guests of their own, making it difficult to keep large groups together.
