Who We Are:

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization inspired by Gospel values. We join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to our neighbors in need, and keep the tradition of our founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and our patron, St. Vincent de Paul. We assist with a variety of needs including housing, utilities, shelters, food pantries, thrift stores. Our members make home visits to those in need in our community.

What We Do:

  • Answer calls from neighbors in need within our parish boundaries.

    • Visit a neighbor in need at their home in teams to assess needs.

    • Provide food, clothing, furnishings (through our local thrift stores), gift cards for food, utility help, rent, medical expenses, gas, and car repairs.

  • Work with the St. Vincent de Paul Pregnancy Partnership by visiting expectant mothers and providing financial assistance for their needs.

  • Help coordinate and volunteer at fundraising events.

    • Walk for the Poor in September – organize the walk, fundraise for those in need, prepare and serve a meal, and attend mass with our volunteers.

    • Upcoming opportunities are in the planning stages.

  • Promote the organization and collections at mass two times per year.

  • Organize and volunteer for clothing and personal item drives.

  • Assist parishes with limited resources with donations to help their neighbors in need (twinning).

  • Work with many St. Louis area organizations that can provide services to our neighbors in need. Should we link to webpages for these organizations?

    • Volunteer at area food pantries:

      • St. Cronan – coordinate donations. (link?)

      • St. Augustine Wellston – deliver food and items collected in our closet and baskets in church. (link?)

    • Provide, prepare, and serve meals for those in need at local Catholic charities and parishes:

      • St. Josephine Bakita (Visitation/St. Ann) – serve and prepare food for a soup kitchen on Tuesday mornings.

      • St. Peter and Paul Community Services (link?)

      • St. Vincent de Paul Parish

    • Purchase items for St. Augustine Wellston Christmas Club.

    • Make sandwiches and deliver them to those in need every Sunday after the 9:30 AM Mass in the school cafeteria.

    • Participate in the Turkey Trot with Immacolata Catholic School.

    • Move St. Patrick’s Center Casserole program
